In the face of the Coronavirus pandemic, Budget Fork Trucks stepped up and willingly got involved with the all-important ventilator project, which was the movement that managed to save many lives due to the ready availability of ventilators when needed.
Back in March when the global crisis had only recently hit the world, we at Budget Fork Trucks responded to the Prime Minister’s call, which asked manufacturers to assist the UK by rising to the growing challenge by producing ventilators. These ventilators would be the difference between life and death for many sufferers of Covid-19. Companies within the consortium received formal Government orders for as many as 15,000 ventilator units.
Everyone here at Budget Forks Trucks was glad to participate in the challenge and were pleased to be able to do their bit in order to save lives. Four months later, we received a letter of gratitude, of which we were very thankful.
The letter stated that everyone taking part in the Ventilator Challenge should, and has a right to, feel proud. The challenge meant that thanks to manufacturers across the country, such as Budget Fork Trucks, any patient that required a ventilator due to the effects of Covid-19 had access to one without an issue. By doing so, we were able to provide confidence to the medical professionals who were saving lives from the front line, and also every single person who has been affected by, or simply understands the devastating effects of, this illness and the threat it poses.
Dick Elsy, leader of the Ventilator Challenge UK, stated in July that “What Ventilator Challenge UK has achieved in the space of twelve weeks is nothing short of incredible, as creating and producing an approved product and setting up production facilities on this scale would normally take years.”
As well as producing ventilators for the NHS, we continued to deliver our services through the lockdown, which were needed more than ever. We saw an increase in online orders, and logistics became the backbone of certain vital services, such as supplying deliveries for the NHS as well as supermarkets and other crucial shops.
This letter also pointed out that none of this confidence would have been possible without companies like us, who were determined to bring our all to the ventilator challenge. We are humbled by the fact that without our efforts, many more lives could have been lost to this deadly virus. Budget Fork Trucks are among dozens of companies, both large and small, who have come together to ensure that they are able to continue operating without damaging the health of its workforce. We were described in the letter as the very best of British business, which was greatly appreciated.
